Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She is the host of SportsNation as well as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. The first time she worked for ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter of television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bilingual since the age of nine years old. It was a helpful skill that helped her secure her first job working as an assistant to the producer at Univision in Miami which allowed her to be a part of the production team for national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next job was as reporter for sports at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. She moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish stations KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. The stories she covered were about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking throughout Texas and Mexico. Also, she was a substitute for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. Then she anchor and wrote for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She also did segments on the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She was hired as anchor of the sports program by Despierta America Deportes for their morning show. The same job was held as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on the UniMas Network. Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. There is a sister. The family moved from Mexico to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. Her parents divorced soon after and in 1995 her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. In June in 2006 she spent an entire week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed there. Antonietta was a senior in high school and was clear about the career she wanted. So while assessing if Mount Union was right for her, Antonietta decided to go visit the school. In the end, she was a fan of the university and that they had the degree she was searching for. After completing her studies, she was admitted to the university as a major of media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was member of her class, formed a lasting relationship with the student. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and also his love for journalism deeply influenced her. She in turn, strived to meet his standards and never fail him.
